Law Graduate Assessment Test (Law-GAT) Enrolment as an Advocate with Bar Council The Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan, has been authorized by the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) to conduct the Law Graduate Assessment Test (Law-GAT) for law graduates seeking enrolment as advocates. The test is in accordance with the order of the Hon’ble Supreme Court and Section 26 (cc) of the Legal Practitioners and Bar Council’s Act 1973.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in law or equivalent from a university recognized by HEC/PBC.

Schedule:
- The Law-GAT Test is tentatively scheduled for March 31, 2024.
- Any changes in the test date will be communicated through HEC’s official website and http://etc.hec.gov.pk.
- Registered applicants will receive email/SMS notifications about the test date, time, and venue.
Test Centers:
- Applicants can select a test center from the available list during the registration process.
- The test will be conducted at a selected center if a minimum of 250 applicants choose that center.
- Once selected, the test center cannot be changed after registration.
How to Register:
- Visit http://etc.hec.gov.pk for online registration.
- Complete the profile using the “My Profile” section and submit the application through the “Law Graduate Assessment Test” link.
- Only SUBMITTED applications will be considered; applications in SAVE or INCOMPLETE mode will not be entertained.
- The test fee of Rs. 3000/- is to be deposited through participating Banks/ATM/Internet Banking/Mobile Banking/JazzCash/Upaisa using 1Link 1Bill Invoice.
- After depositing the fee, click on Verify Online Payment on the ETC Dashboard.
Deadline for Online Registration:
March 12, 2024, by 4:00 PM
Other Requirements/Conditions:
- A 50% score is required to pass the test.
- Applicants will have a maximum of seven (7) chances to clear the test.
- It is mandatory to bring a printout of the Roll Number Slip and Original CNIC/Passport on the test day.
