LRBT Seeks Experienced and Dynamic Head for Community Ophthalmology Department in Karachi
The Layton Rahmatulla Benevolent Trust (LRBT) is seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to take on the role of Head of its Community Ophthalmology Department at the LRBT Tertiary Teaching Eye Hospital in Korangi 2½, Karachi.
This is a premier leadership opportunity for a seasoned ophthalmologist with a passion for public health, teaching, and community outreach to lead a vital department in one of Pakistan’s most respected eye care institutions.
A Leadership Role: Core Responsibilities and Strategic Vision
The Head of the Community Department will be responsible for steering the department’s strategic vision and ensuring the delivery of high-quality eye care services to the community. The key responsibilities of this role include:
Lead the Department: Take charge of the department, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, strict compliance with all relevant standards, and effective budget control.
Oversee Education Programs: Supervise the educational programs and provide mentorship to faculty and trainees at the LRBT School.
Manage Outreach Initiatives: Drive the department’s community-focused activities, including managing outreach programs, organizing eye camps, leading awareness drives, and evaluating the Primary Eye Care (PEC) network.
Mandatory Eligibility Criteria for All Applicants

Medical Degree: An MBBS from a reputable university is the foundational requirement.
Specialized Qualification:
An M.Sc. in Community Ophthalmology is highly preferred.
FCPS/FRCS/MCPS/DOMS in Ophthalmology will be considered an added advantage.
License: A valid PMDC License is mandatory.
Professional Experience: The ideal candidate will be an experienced ophthalmologist with a proven track record and expertise in:
Clinical Practice
Teaching
Leadership
Community Outreach
Skills in monitoring and evaluation, preferably of primary medical facilities.
