Sindh Government Announces Solar-Powered Irrigation Scheme for Farmers
The On-Farm Water Management Wing of the Agriculture, Supply & Prices Department, Government of Sindh, has announced a significant initiative to support the province’s agricultural community. Applications are now being accepted from farmers across Sindh for the provision of a High-Efficiency Irrigation System (HEIS) powered by solar energy. This scheme aims to enhance agricultural productivity and promote sustainable water usage through modern technology.
Scheme Details: A Cost-Sharing Opportunity
This initiative is being offered on a cost-sharing basis, where the government will subsidize the installation of solar-powered irrigation systems. The farmer’s contribution will vary based on the size of their land and the capacity of the solar system required. The government has pre-qualified several companies to carry out the installations.
The breakdown of the farmer’s share is as follows:
For land up to 05 acres: A 5.5 kW solar panel system will be installed, with the farmer’s share being PKR 317,600. (Company: Kiswa Construction Company)
For land from 6 to 10 acres: A 7.5 kW solar panel system will be installed, with the farmer’s share being PKR 431,000. (Company: AIM Solution)
For land from 11 to 15 acres: A 10 kW solar panel system will be installed, with the farmer’s share being PKR 530,800. (Company: Kiswa Construction Company)
For land from 20 to 25 acres: A 20 kW solar panel system will be installed, with the farmer’s share being PKR 1,020,000. (Company: MB Royal Enterprises)
If the number of applications exceeds the available systems, a transparent draw will be conducted to select the successful applicants.
