Role and Responsibilities

The Gender Specialist/Coordinator will play a pivotal role in ensuring that SEDF’s gender-based projects are effectively designed, implemented, and evaluated with a strong focus on promoting enterprise, entrepreneurship, agriculture, and value chains. Key responsibilities include:

  • Gender Expertise: Provide comprehensive gender expertise and coordination for various projects.
  • Evaluation Processes: Ensure all evaluation processes and products are gender-responsive.
  • Promotion of Enterprise: Focus on promoting enterprise and entrepreneurship among women.
  • Agriculture and Value Chains: Emphasize gender equality in agriculture and value chains.
  • Community Engagement: Engage with local communities, particularly in rural Sindh, to foster gender equality.

Qualifications and Experience

Educational Background:

  • Advanced (Master) degree or equivalent in Law, Political Science, Human Rights, Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities, or related fields.

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in evaluating or assessing development projects, programs, policies, or strategies.
  • Deep understanding and expertise in women’s human rights and gender equality.
  • Experience or knowledge in business and enterprise development is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record in governance and women’s socio-economic uplift initiatives.
  • Familiarity with the context of Sindh and gender equality issues in the region is advantageous.
  • Prior experience working in rural Sindh and engaging with local communities is beneficial.
  • Experience with national and international development agencies is preferred.
