During a recent meeting in Lahore the provincial administration outlined plans to provide over 20,000 electric and petrol motorbikes to citizens particularly students, through interest-free loans. The presence of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the meeting underscores the significance of this initiative.

How to Apply for Bike Scheme Online

The primary focus of the discussion was on improving student transportation. Alongside electric bikes, hybrid bus services for students were also discussed.

Installment Details & Plan

Total Bikes: The government plans to distribute a total of 20,000 bikes, comprising 1,000 electric bikes and 19,000 petrol bikes. The best part? Students won’t have to worry about paying any interest on their monthly installments.

Installment Plan: To simplify the process for students, the Punjab government has partnered with the Bank of Punjab (BOP) for bike distribution. Monthly installments for electric bikes are set at Rs. 10,000, while for petrol bikes, it’s Rs. 5,000.

Delivery: Transparency is paramount, so the government has decided to conduct a draw in May to ensure fairness in the distribution process.

Quota: To ensure equal opportunities, quotas have been established. In urban areas, bikes will be evenly divided between male and female students. However, there’s a slight difference in rural areas, with 70% of the quota reserved for male students and 30% for female students.

This initiative by the Punjab government, led by the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), aims to alleviate the transportation burden for students, making it more accessible and affordable. With electric bikes set to hit the roads soon, students can anticipate a smoother journey to their educational institutions.
