Consumers can expect some relief as petroleum product prices are anticipated to decrease starting June 1. According to sources, petrol prices are set to drop by Rs. 5.50 per liter, bringing the price down from Rs. 273.10 per liter.

Price Reductions:

  • Petrol: Decrease by Rs. 5.50 per liter
  • Diesel: Decrease by Rs. 4.30 per liter
  • Kerosene: Decrease by Rs. 2.15 per liter
  • Light Diesel Oil (LDO): Decrease by Rs. 5.08 per liter

Official Process:

  • On May 31, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will present its price calculations to the government, based on current global market trends.

Recent Reductions and Impact:

The government had previously reduced petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) prices on May 15 by Rs. 15.39 per liter and Rs. 7.88 per liter, respectively.

Economic Impact:

  • Petrol: Widely used for motor vehicles, particularly in Punjab.
  • High-Speed Diesel (HSD): Essential for transport and agriculture sectors.
