The Karachi Water & Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) is seeking Expressions of Interest from highly qualified and experienced professionals to lead its Environmental and Social (E&S) safeguards. This recruitment is part of the World Bank-funded Karachi Water and Sewerage Services Improvement Project (KWSSIP-2), a major initiative to reform and modernize the city’s water and sanitation infrastructure.
KWSC is looking to hire a team of dedicated experts to ensure that all project activities comply with national and international environmental and social standards.

KWSC has announced three senior-level positions to build its E&S Cell, which will play a crucial role in the successful implementation of the KWSSIP-2 project.
Chief Environment and Social Officer
Role Focus: The Chief E&S Officer will report directly to the CEO of KWSC and will be the key guide for the corporation’s partners on all E&S matters. This leadership role involves overseeing the implementation of the Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS), ensuring compliance with policies and NOCs from SEPA 2014, and managing the overall environmental and social performance of the project.
Qualification & Experience:
A Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field from an HEC-recognized institution.
A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.
The maximum age limit is 50 years.
Manager Environment
Role Focus: The Manager Environment will report to the Chief E&S Officer and will be responsible for overseeing the complete monitoring of KWSC’s environmental and social compliance. This includes monitoring projects for adherence to SEPA NOCs, collaboration with SEPA and other stakeholders, and managing environmental monitoring and laboratory development.
Qualification & Experience:
A Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field from an HEC-recognized institution.
A minimum of 07 years of relevant experience.
The maximum age limit is 40 years.
Manager (Social)
Role Focus: The Manager (Social) will report to the Chief E&S Officer and will be responsible for overseeing all non-environmental aspects of the project. This includes social compliance, stakeholder engagement, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) considerations, resettlement planning, and managing the Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM).
Qualification & Experience:
A Master’s degree or equivalent (18 years of education) in Sociology, Social Work, or a related field from an HEC-recognized institution.
A minimum of 07 years of relevant experience.
The maximum age limit is 40 years.
