  • Citizenship and Marital Status: Only unmarried male citizens of Pakistan are eligible.
  • Age Limit: Candidates should not be more than 20 years old as of 31 December 2004. However, there is an age relaxation for candidates from certain regions.

Age Relaxation

Candidates from FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan, AJK, and Balochistan can apply if they are not more than 21 years old as of 31 December 2004. This provides a one-year age relaxation for applicants from these areas.

Academic Qualifications

Candidates must have passed FSc (Pre-Engineering) or A-Level with a subject combination of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, securing at least 55% marks. Additionally, candidates who are currently appearing for FSc/A-Level Part-II and have at least 60% marks in Part-I can also apply, provided they submit a Hope Certificate from their respective institution heads.

  • Equivalence Certificate: O/A Level candidates must submit an Equivalence Certificate along with their application.
  • Hope Certificate: Part-II candidates must provide a Hope Certificate. If they fail to secure 55% marks in FSc after submitting the Hope Certificate, they will be disqualified at any stage of the selection process or discharged during training.

Registration Process

To register for PMA, candidates need to follow these steps:

  1. Forms are also available at the PMA Admission Office.
  2. Submission Process: Submit the application form through courier services along with a pay order/bank draft of Rs. 3,500 in favor of Pakistan Marine Academy, Karachi, National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), PMA Branch Code-0239.

Self-Finance Scheme (SFS)

Candidates applying under the Self-Finance Scheme (SFS) must submit an additional pay order/bank draft of Rs. 300,000 along with the application form.

Selection Procedure

The selection procedure for PMA includes several stages:

  1. Candidates need to score a minimum of 50% marks to qualify.
  2. Medical Examination: Shortlisted candidates will undergo a medical examination at designated Army/Navy hospitals.
  3. Final Selection: The final selection will be based on FSc marks, entrance test marks, medical examination, Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and the final interview.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET) Standards

Candidates must meet the following PET standards:

  • Running: One mile (1.6 km) in 8.5 minutes
  • Pushups: 15 repetitions in 2 minutes
  • Situps: 15 repetitions in 2 minutes
  • Chin-ups: 2 repetitions in 2 minutes

Education, Training, and Certification

Selected candidates will undergo a two-year residential training at PMA. Upon completion, they will be awarded an Associate Degree in Nautical Science and Marine Engineering by NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi, along with certificates of International Maritime Organization (IMO) recognized pre-sea mandatory courses.

Scholarships

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs sponsors 33 need-based scholarships, distributed as follows:

  • Balochistan: 6 scholarships
  • Punjab: 10 scholarships
  • Sindh (Rural): 6 scholarships
  • Sindh (Urban): 4 scholarships
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 5 scholarships
  • FATA/Gilgit-Baltistan: 2 scholarships

Ineligibility Criteria

Candidates will be ineligible if they:

  • Submit tampered academic certificates or mark-sheets
  • Conceal information or submit incomplete applications
  • Are withdrawn from any academy on disciplinary grounds
  • Are dismissed, removed, debarred, or resigned from government service including the armed forces
  • Are convicted by a court of law for an offense involving moral turpitude or any other offense
  • Have non-combination of subjects or hold a Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE)
  • Are declared medically unfit by an Armed Forces hospital
  • Are declared color blind
