Overview of Airman Trades in the 2025 Intake
The term “Airman” encompasses a wide range of roles that are crucial for the operational readiness of the Pakistan Air Force. These are the technical experts, the support specialists, and the security professionals who ensure that the pilots and aircraft can effectively guard our skies. The 2025 intake invites applications for the following trades:
Aero Trades
This is the technical core of the Pakistan Air Force. Airmen in Aero Trades are responsible for the maintenance, inspection, and repair of the PAF’s sophisticated fleet of aircraft. This includes working on aircraft structures, powerful jet engines, advanced avionics systems, and complex weaponry. Due to the highly critical nature of this job, the entry standards are exceptionally high, requiring a strong foundation in science subjects.
PF & DI (Provost & Drill Instructor)
This trade has a dual responsibility. As Provost, you will be part of the PAF’s military police, responsible for maintaining order, discipline, and security within PAF bases and establishments. As a Drill Instructor, you will be tasked with training new recruits and cadets, shaping them into disciplined airmen. This role demands a strong physical presence and excellent leadership qualities, which is reflected in the taller height requirement.
Security
Airmen in the Security trade are the frontline defenders of PAF assets. They are responsible for the protection of airbases, radar stations, equipment, and personnel from all kinds of threats. This is a vital role that requires vigilance, physical fitness, and a deep sense of responsibility to ensure the operational security of the entire force.
MTD (Mechanical Transport Driver)
The MTD trade is the logistical lifeline of the PAF. These airmen operate and maintain a vast fleet of vehicles, ranging from staff cars to heavy-duty transport trucks and specialized ground equipment. Their efficiency ensures that personnel, equipment, and supplies move where they are needed, when they are needed. This is the only trade in this intake that is open to married candidates, and it requires a valid LTV/HTV driving license.
Fire Fighter
PAF Fire Fighters are elite emergency responders. Their primary role is to provide immediate and effective firefighting and rescue services, especially in the event of an aircraft-related emergency. They are trained to handle high-pressure situations and operate specialized equipment to save lives and protect valuable assets. A driving license is considered an advantage for this role.
Medical Assistant
Medical Assistants are the heart of the PAF’s healthcare system. They work in PAF hospitals and medical inspection rooms, assisting doctors, providing first aid, managing patient care, and operating medical equipment. This trade requires a strong background in Biology and is essential for maintaining the health and well-being of all PAF personnel and their families.
