The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Government of Pakistan, specifically the Office of the Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue (IR), Large Taxpayers’ Office (LTO) in Islamabad, is hiring highly experienced Legal Advisors/Consultants. The positions are for legal professionals specializing in tax law to assist FBR’s Directorates of Law-IR in managing complex litigation and ensuring compliance.

Successful candidates will be hired on a full-time contractual basis and will be primarily based in the Islamabad/Rawalpindi region.

Scope of Work: FBR Legal Consultancy

The Legal Advisors/Consultants will be tasked with providing comprehensive legal support focused on tax litigation and risk management. The key responsibilities include:

1. Litigation Management & Legal Research

Assisting Directorates of Law-IR with the preparation of legal submissions and representation in appellate forums.
Conducting in-depth legal research on complex tax matters and providing advice on notices, replies, and orders issued under tax laws.
Pleading cases before High Courts, ATIR, CAT, and FTO (only when specifically assigned by the concerned Directorate of Law).

2. Risk Management & Reporting

Supporting FBR officials in litigation and legal risk management.
Preparing periodic reports on legal proceedings, outcomes, and liaising with field formations.
Assisting in the systematic review and classification of pending litigation based on value, complexity, and legal merits to facilitate strategic prioritization and early disposal.
Drafting settlement proposals and assisting in negotiation strategies for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) cases.
Performing any other legal tasks assigned by the Directorates of Law-IR.

Pay, Remuneration, and Code of Conduct

Pay and Remuneration

Contract Basis: Legal Advisors will be hired on a full-time contractual basis.
Monthly Remuneration: The monthly remuneration shall be in the range of PKR 300,000/- (Three Hundred Thousand Rupees) based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
Final Package: The final remuneration package will be determined by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in consultation with the selection committee.

Monitoring & Reporting

Legal Advisors will report directly to the respective Directorate of Law-IR and must submit monthly progress reports outlining all activities undertaken, cases supported, and outcomes achieved, following a standard format prescribed by the legal wing.

Code of Conduct

Legal Advisors must adhere to a strict code of conduct, including maintaining strict confidentiality of all official information.
They are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest and comply fully with professional ethics and FBR’s internal security protocols.
