State Life Insurance Seeks Dynamic Divisional Head for Law Affairs Division
State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan (SLIC), the nation’s largest life and health insurer, has announced a significant job opportunity for a seasoned legal professional. The corporation is looking for a dynamic and result-oriented Divisional Head to lead its Law Affairs Division.
This is a premier leadership role, equivalent to a DGM Grade, for an individual with extensive experience in corporate law, compliance, and litigation. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing progressive legal support across all divisions of the corporation and ensuring strict adherence to by-laws, charter, and other legal and regulatory matters.
Core Responsibilities: A Strategic Legal Leadership Role
The Divisional Head of the Law Affairs Division will be at the helm of SLIC’s legal strategy and operations. The key responsibilities of this position include:
Providing Legal Support: Offering dynamic legal counsel to all Divisions, the Board of Directors, and Senior Management on a wide range of legal matters.
Managing Legal Services: Leading and managing the functions of the legal services department to ensure the smooth and timely delivery of services to all stakeholders.
Drafting and Vetting Agreements: Examining and creating critical draft agreements, such as employment contracts and vendor agreements.
Legal Representation: Attending court hearings on behalf of SLIC in important matters and representing the corporation at various Government and other legal forums, including standing committees and ministries.
Litigation Strategy: Conducting legal research and reviewing the Corporation’s litigation strategy pertaining to legal actions to safeguard the interests of State Life.
Contract Review: Reviewing and finalizing all contracts, agreements, and MoUs to ensure they are legally sound and protect the corporation from all kinds of legal implications.
Mandatory Qualifications and Experience for Applicants
SLIC has set a high standard for this critical role, seeking a candidate with a strong academic background and extensive professional experience.
Education: An LLB is the minimum requirement, with an LLM being preferred. The candidate must be a registered member of the Pakistan Bar Counsel.
Experience:
A minimum of ten (10) years of experience is required.
Of the total experience, five (05) years must be in a Senior Management Position or as a prominent practicing lawyer in the relevant field.
Preferred Skills:
Candidates who possess adequate institutional experience in Corporate Affairs, Legal Affairs, Compliance, and Risk Management will be given preference.
The candidate must be fully aware of Insurance laws and the regulations of Statuary Bodies.
Age Limit, Tenure, and Location
Age Limit: The maximum age limit is 45 years at the time of the publication of the advertisement. However, age relaxation may be granted to exceptional candidates with qualifications and experience of past standing, as per SLIC rules and regulations.
Tenure and Position: The position is offered on a contract basis for a period of three (03) years, which is further extendable with mutual consent.
Location: The position is based at the Principal Office in Karachi.
