Islamabad, Pakistan – The Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC), a state-owned enterprise operating under the Ministry of Energy’s Petroleum Division, has announced a significant vacancy for the position of General Manager – ESG (Environment, Social and Governance). The corporation is inviting applications for this key leadership role on an open contract basis.

PMDC is responsible for the exploration, mining, and marketing of various minerals across Pakistan. Eligibility Criteria for the General Manager Position

Candidates aspiring to lead the ESG initiatives at PMDC must meet the following stringent requirements:

  • Qualification: A Bachelor’s degree (equivalent to 16 years of education) in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline from an HEC-recognized institution is mandatory. A Master’s degree, along with additional certifications in relevant fields, will be considered a significant advantage.

  • Experience: A minimum of 15 years of professional experience is required. This experience should be in a management role and cover areas such as Environmental Strategy, ESG Reporting, Social Impact Strategy & Assessment, and Occupational Health & Safety.

  • Age: The maximum age for applicants is 50 years.

Key Job Responsibilities

The General Manager – ESG will be tasked with a broad range of critical responsibilities, including:

  • Developing and leading PMDC’s comprehensive ESG and sustainability strategy, ensuring alignment with international frameworks like GRI and SASB.

  • Overseeing all health and safety initiatives across the corporation’s operational sites to ensure compliance with national and international standards.

  • Driving environmental goals, with a focus on emission reduction, energy efficiency, resource conservation, and legal compliance.

  • Leading ESG data management, reporting processes, and the preparation of quarterly and annual reports for the Board.

  • Establishing robust governance frameworks to promote ethical and responsible business practices.

  • Formulating and managing budgets for all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and ESG-related programs.

  • Supervising social responsibility initiatives, including community engagement and employee development programs.

  • Conducting internal audits and safety inspections, and liaising with relevant authorities such as the EPA, NDMA, and Rescue 1122.
